A nervous decision

My precious friends and family- we simply cannot say express adequately how much we appreciate your thoughts, prayers and encouragement!! It truly helps to have the arms of God wrapped around us!!
We made a decision this week- in the days following our last post, Dug and I set out to discover what the clinical options are for Calebs care! This saw us researching the net and talking to other clinical specialists who are in the area of limb reconstruction. We were trying to discover from others who do this part of clinical care on a daily, the procedure they use and why??
After working through all this information, we have decided to institute a combination of all of these and work out a process of achieving the clinical needs of the pinsite care in a way that may be less intrusive and traumatic for Caleb and in turn us.
So for the last two days we have deon pin site care according to the Wishart plan and at this stage we are seeing incredible results. Last night was not as successful for us, but the day before saw Caleb sitting outside by the pool playing his DS while I did the care in a carefully constructed environment and he said ouch ONCE!! If we can find a way to manage this part of our everyday, life would be significantly changed for us!! Dug and I are nervous in this decision but praying for the wisdom and peace of God to direct us very clearly. We have realised that in this process we want to access the very best of every aspect of his care and to do that we will need to seek out the best and most experienced processes and put together the best process for CALEB! Please pray for us to have continued wisdom as we make these decisions- they are big to make!!
On the flip side of this, we have continued to be simply blown away by the grace, love and support extended to us by those who love us- I cannot put into words how this makes the journey easier to navigate!!
Yesterday my parents and I were reduced to tears by the kindness and generousity of a complete stranger. At lunch (we took my parents out for grandparents day as Caleb could not last at school) Caleb needed desperately to go to the toilet, but was adament that he would not use the urine bottle nor did he want to go through the disabled access which was around the back through the carpark! He wanted to go down the stairs!! (difficult for a mostly immobile boy!!) So we worked together with my dad to problem solve getting him down as he simply wanted to be able to access the toilets for himself like the rest of us. The sight was fairly hilarious, but we managed to get him down and back up and his smile was enough of a confirmation for me!! In this process however we ran into a beautiful woman on the stair and my dad proceded to expain some of Calebs journey. Well at the end of our lunch, this angel of a woman approached us with an amazing gift that she had just purchased for Caleb. A complete stranger had seen us and felt compled to randomly bless us beyond words!! I am still not sure I can process how much this touched each of us in that moment!! The love of those who know us has left us humbled and speechless and this act of kindness truly amazed us!!
And so Dug is home from Japan and with him he has brought the news of another trip to Perth, so for this weekend we are settling into an old routine of mowing, washing and preparing for another week. Life must go on in the midst of this crazy choatic season and we find oursleves comforted by the familiarity of the needs to meet and the precious space to get them done.

Hi Janet, Thought you might get a giggle from this... Chloe just asked "Mum, can I read Caleb's Scared Season?". I didn't realise that she had read it wrong all this time, and thought it had been named 'scared' for a reason. I have now explained the correct meaning and spelling! Love Caren
