1mm done!!

At 8:13am this morning Calebs right leg grew by 1mm!! How amazing!! Of course amazing is not the word he would use to describe the experience! I think he felt every stretch of that 1mm. And so we start the process of daily turning his struts to extend his precious angel leg by a mm a day.

He was so brave as we had very little sleep last night. They changed his pain meds yesterday so the night was a rough one for him, with him waking every 30 mins or so to cry and scream out in pain.

BUT today is a new day and we have just made it to the wheelchair to take our 'dogs' for a walk. We even made it outside to sit in the sun for 5 minutes. A little bit of sunshine before we have physio, OT, another 2 surgeons visits and pinsite care. Today mummy must start to attempt pinsite care and I cannot say the experience is something I look forward to, but it is part of the process that we must master to come home.

Thank you to all his friends and loved ones for his messages, He has loved reading them each day!!

Hi Janet and Caleb (as you are the only 2 there today), I have read the details and learnt SO much. So much about Caleb and his surgery, and SO much about the strength you have when you put your whole life in Gods hands.
Well done on the first 1 mm! After reading about the nightmares, it reminded me that I also had many nightmares in the first few days after my Back surgery... but thankfully I can't even remember what they were now!
Keep looking to the future, you are all doing so incredibly well! With love and prayers from Caren, Jamie and Chloe.

G'day buddy,
It is our daily routine to find out how you are doing and today we rejoice that you got outside for a bit. We had an evacuation practice here at school which was very exciting and also very hot because we had to sit in the sun for a long time. We will miss you at Chapel today and I know Mrs. Rice will miss your dancing and taking you to Chapel. We continue to remember our Caleb memory verse and we know that you being made new each day you are away from us.
We miss you a lot,
Mr. Shield and 2C
